It can be used for the gentle cleaning of historical, listed and delicate building substrates along with graffiti, timber restoration, marble, bronze, and facades amongst many others.

It has been used Worldwide on such projects as the Eiffel Tour, Paris, France, Imperial Forum in Rome, Italy and St.Peters Gate, Saint Petersburg in Russia.

The sandblasting and micro-abrasive IBIX Special Cleaning systems are cutting-edge technologies and able to reduce significantly working time, residues and labour costs of traditional cleaning methods; ecological and safe. IBIX machines use only non-toxic and non-polluting materials that guarantee the maximum respect for the operators and the environment. The IBIX machines are completely made of aluminium, lightweight and easy to transport and they can work in open spaces without placing bulky protective equipment around the site.

Our system is completely portable and can be used both indoors and outdoors. It is small enough to be carried in our own Hinowa tracked spider cherry basket for high level cleaning and restoration work. It has small footprint using a compact petrol powered compressor, not the usual large noisy trailer mounted diesel units associated with media blasting. It is a highly efficient and patented system used in a huge array of restoration and cleaning projects.

Cleaning of brick and terracotta

The IBIX system is recommended for the cleaning of every type of natural stone, sandstone, limestone, marble and travertine marble, antique terracotta and brickwork.

The dry IBIX process is suitable for the cleaning monuments in stone, terracotta and brick, especially delicate ones which are overlaid with black smoke. atmospheric particles, carbonisation, and other deposits solidified in the base material whilst allowing the retention of the natural protection (patina).

The dry IBIX process with controlled projection of inert minerals such as almandine garnet with a fine grain size and rounded shape (200/250 mesh) or calcium carbonate “CARBONART Z6” is recommended for cleaning brickwork and antique terracotta.

The appropriate pressure regulation and the correct mix of media/air permits the selective removal of dirt deposits without causing break-up or alteration of the surface, especially on the surface of brickwork from delicate tufo.

Cleaning of terra cotta

IBIX eco-blasters are recommended to clean terra cotta flooring or structures found in historic and modern buildings. Cleaning becomes an easy and effortless task for operators due to the special spraying lance.

Blasting and micro-blasting operations using IBIX dry eco-blasters plus IBIXART, the fine-grained inert material specific for air-abrasion, remove deposits and layers of dirt, stains and efflorescence from old and/or modern terracotta surfaces without breaking/ altering them or increasing their porosity.

Cleaning of headstones, marble and natural stone

The IBIX system is recommended for the cleaning of all types of natural stone, granite, sandstone, limestone, marble and travertine marble.

The dry IBIX process is suitable for the cleaning of monuments in stone, terracotta and brick, especially delicate ones which are overlaid with black smoke, atmospheric particles, carbonisation, and other deposits solidified in the base material whilst allowing the retention of the natural protection (patina).

The ergonomic IBIX pistol, light and easy to handle, and the wide range of nozzles make it particularly useful when used on decorative pieces, friezes, mouldings and in undercuts.

The dry IBIX process with its controlled projection of calcium carbonate specifically “Carbonart Z6” for artistic cleaning is particularly recommended for cleaning very porous and degraded surfaces and for particularly delicate decorative works..

The IBIX H2O wet method with controlled projection of calcium carbonate “Carbonart Z5” and atomised water is the ideal cleaning system for non-porous stone and marble, characterised by widespread and rather homogenous dirt.

The low consumption of water reduces the need to collect run-off water.

With the IBIX® system it is possible to intervene quickly and effectively on natural elements such as marble and granite.

The possibility of modulating the operating pressure and of using direct flow or helical rotary HELIX® dispensing guns with projection of specific abrasives and aggregates from the IBIX®ART and CARBONART® range allows to obtain excellent qualitative results in terms of productivity and hourly yield.

Cleaning and recovery of facades

The IBIX® system is recommended for cleaning every type of natural and artificial stone, granite, sandstone, limestone, marble and travertine marble, terracotta and brick.

Cleaning of black smoke (smog), residues of urban pollution, carbonisation, deposits solidified in the base material whilst allowing the retention of the natural protection film (patina).

Cleaning off the rough coating and mortar casting from stone and brick, after grouting. Removal of graffiti and destructive writing from brick, stone, marble facades, shutters and metal and glass structures.

Removal of paint from plaster, removal of algae, moss and lichen from facades before plaster is restored. Preparation of plaster surfaces before applying the glue for the thermal-acoustic insulation and cladding.

The HELIX equipment perfectly combines gentleness and quality of operation plus the high speed, high performance, and low inert material consumption required for efficient blasting.

Cleaning of bronze statues

The IBIX® system is suitable for cleaning structures, buildings and monuments made from bronze which are overlaid with fouling, black smoke, atmospheric particles, and different kinds of pollutants.

The dry IBIX® process featuring controlled spraying of eco-friendly materials such as CARBONART Z6 is the ideal method to clean bronze monuments. This method is used to selectively remove unwanted build-ups or pollutants without scoring or damaging the surface.

Cleaning the residues of atmospheric pollution

The IBIX system allows the delicate removal of deposits and residues of atmospheric pollution from stone artefacts, whilst safeguarding the patinas and historical coatings by means of a selective cleaning process which uses a micro air abrasive technique.

In fact it is possible to vary the working pressure from the lowest level (equivalent to 0.2 bar or a breath) and to control the flow of media chosen, based on the best grain size for the type and condition of that particular substrate.

Cleaning of wooden artefacts

The IBIX® system is an air-abrasion equipment especially designed to clean delicate wooden artefacts and/or those of historic-artistic value in a controlled and selective manner. The IBIX ® system is extremely useful for a selective cleaning that protects also the coating film finish of artefacts since its operation parameters (pressure; inert material/air mixture control) can be perfectly adjusted to the work to be performed, and eco-friendly inert material of suitable nature and grain size (walnut shells, mineral garnet of 200-mesh grain size, etc.) is used.

The dry IBIX® system is suitable for blasting bare wooden artefacts as it cleans off those hard-to-remove paint coats. In this case, it is advisable to use the IBIX air-abrasion equipment with almandine Garnet natural inert material, grain size: 120 mesh or 200 mesh. Instead, if you try wish to slightly ‘brush’ a piece to softly remove pollutants but without scratching the coating film, you should use vegetable or mineral media of very fine grain size (200-250 mesh).

The dry IBIX® system is especially useful to give wooden artefacts the proper porosity needed for further conservation treatments. In particular, the IBIX® System is successfully used for micro-removal so that intumescent paint can be later applied: the artefacts to be treated should be free of dust, grease, oils, silicones or any other substance that may cause paint not to hold well to the surface.

Removal of algae, moss and lichen

The IBIX® system is recommended for removing biological slime such as algae, moss and lichen that form on stone surfaces. The IBIX® method is suitable for cleaning monuments in natural stone, sandstone and limestone, especially delicate ones which have biological coatings, efflorescence and stains.

The dry IBIX method with its controlled projection of calcium carbonate specifically CARBONART Z6 for artistic cleaning is particularly recommended for cleaning very porous and degraded surfaces and for particularly delicate decorative works, friezes, mouldings and recesses.

Removal of airborne particles

In the last decades, the historical-artistic heritage has, in general, suffered greater degradation than that observed some years ago, so much so that atmospheric pollution is regarded as one of the most important causes of such deterioration.

The main causes of deterioration to which materials are exposed may have two different origins: a natural origin (such as ice, salt crystallisation, microclimate and thermal shocks), and an anthropic one, represented by atmospheric pollution mainly.

Atmospheric pollution acts as deteriorating agent by modifying the chemical, physical and biological properties of air, and causing more or less serious alterations to any element exposed to its action.

Among pollutants, we can find Airborne Particles, especially carbon particles produced by fossil fuel combustion. They can settle and therefore, damage stone or bronze artefacts, paintings and frescos.

The substances that can damage a work can also come from different sources, especially:

Combustion processes at industrial and home level that generate gaseous pollutants, such as carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide, carbon particles.

Road traffic (carbon monoxide, nitrogen and sulphur, particulate, dust coming from worn road surface, tyres and unburned hydrocarbons).

Machining operations in industrial processes and waste combustion that release into the air organic solvent gases, sulphur anhydride, hydrochloric acid, nitrogen oxide, unburned hydrocarbons and particulate.

The IBIX® method is suitable for cleaning monuments in stone, terracotta and brick, especially delicate ones which are overlaid with black smoke, atmospheric particles, carbonisation, and any other deposits solidified in the base material whilst allowing the retention of the natural protection film (patina).

Plaster removal

The IBIX® system is an air-abrasion equipment designed to clean buildings of historic-artistic value in a controlled and selective manner.

The IBIX® system is extremely useful for a selective cleaning that removes plaster without altering the coating film finish since its application parameters (pressure and inert material/air mixture control) can be perfectly adjusted to the work to be performed.

Graffiti Removal

IBIX ® is the reference technology for removing graffiti and destructive writing from stone, brick, aluminium, and glass surfaces thanks to the use of biocompatible ecological aggregates and atomised water, WITHOUT using aggressive chemical products that also pose disposal problems.

Using the HELIX equipment you can reach the highest operation speed, while ensuring a much gentler operation and lower consumption of inert materials and water that, finely atomised, facilitates cleaning and prevents the dispersion of dust in the air.

As it is easy to handle, versatile and easy to use, the IBIX system has been chosen by several companies specialised in special cleaning, graffiti removal, and urban cleanliness. Nowadays it has become the leader in the urban construction style recovery sector.

Soft washing is a safe and very effective low pressure cleaning and sanitizing method, for both domestic and commercial properties.
